88 Pop Art Comic - 2 Different Methods

Hello my friends

In this tutorial i will show you how to create some nice pop art images in 2 different ways

This is the Tutorial Number 88 from our 100 Tutorial Marathon
Soon this marathon will end, and i will start another one. I will not tell you how many tutorials i will create in my future marathon

This is what we gone do today

Open a image you like to convert to a pop art image
I will use one more time Angelina Jolie

Then duplicate the layer ( press CTRL+J )
For this new layer change the blending mode to Color Dodge

Now press CTRL+I to invert the image .
The image will be white. This is very good

Now go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and use the following settings

This is the result

Now create a new Threshold Adjustment layer

And use the following layer

This is the result

Now Create a new layer ( press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+N )
Change the blending mode to : Multiply

Take a brush and start drawing on the face ( be sure you are drawing on the new layer.

Now set the foreground and the background color like me

Then go to Filter > Sketch > Halftone pattern
use the following settings

This is the result

I will show you how to create the same effect with another method

Now we will create a pattern
Open a new document in photoshop with a transparent background
The size should be 40 x 40 pixels

Create a new layer. and fill it with black ( this layer we will delete later )
Now create another layer.
Zoom your document to 1600 %
Select Pencil Tool ( set the brush size to 1 pixel ) and start doing the following drawing

Then delete the black layer
this is the result

Now go to Edit > Define pattern
Choose a name for your pattern and press OK

Now let's come back to Angelina Jolie document

Now create a new layer ( press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+N )
Change the blending mode to Overlay and with the brush tool start drawing on the other parts of the document

Then apply the following layer style
Choose the pattern we have created a few steps ago

This is the result

Now withe the same technique fill all the image.
Do not apply the halftone effect on eyes and hair, because it will not look to good.
This is my final effect

I hope you like it. Thanks
