Heres what you will be designing today. Its very simple and takes about 10 minutes to do. However its still unique and good for a simple blog / portfoilio layout. The PSD download is available for VIP members by messaging me along with the logos and text used in this tutorial. I will not be explaining the noob details if you have any questions, again, feel free to contact me.







Step 1: First open your document. 800 x 500 should do.

Step 2: Start with a gradient background. Heres what i did. First right click on your background layer and press layer from background. Afterwards right click - > blending options - > gradient overlay. The gradient should be dark to light. Dark: 333333 - Light: 646464

Step3: Select the Rectangle Marquee tool and make a square selection only leaving a little bit of background space between the square and the layout.

Step4: With the selection still highlighted go to Edit - > Stroke - > 3 pixels white(inside)

Step5:After that use the polygon lasso tool to make a selection along the top of the bar all the way across. The image below will show the exact shape if needed copy and paste the image into photoshop and make the selection by tracing that image. Afterwards using a style that can be downloaded from the VIP section right click - > blending options - > choose style. I used a blue style.

Step6:After you make your header you can use some simple texts(the text is called : Space Age) and logos to make the layout complete. I suggest using images in this layout even though i haven't included it.
