CSS is a fairly simple language, like most other web languages to be honest..

www.w3schools.com is a great place for learning from the baisics about most programming languages

Being a web master myself I would do a complete redesign. There is no easy way to "convert" your website into XHTML/CSS. Also make sure you test on the major browsers - IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari, and the dreaded Netscape. There are MANY problems with not only CSS but JS as well.
