Give freebies away!
Yes, we know that you have heard this before, but we're not talking about just any old freebie. we're talking about a homicidal sales-machine!
Freebies are the ultimate sales tool because they eliminate any risk whatsoever to your prospects. And this removes any resistance that they usually have in taking the first step to your product. Now they simply have no excuse because they now have nothing to lose! That's why people can't resist freebies. But to turn your freebie into a sales-machine, it needs to have these 3 core elements: 1. Creates Value 2. Targets Your Market 3. Promotes You |

Hello,
The one and only way to promote you site:is to Submit to all major search engines like Google, Yahoo & MSN. The one and only is Google...this will be enough... Afterwards, visit their search pages you will get the links to submit site. And put some Keywords of your submission in Head Section of your webpage...and it will do it. Amit |

I don't know if this is will be of some use to anyone, but I'd like to add my 2 cents that has helped me in the past.
Affiliate your sites with related content. For example, if you have a website that is a fan page for a certain actress (like in my case) the ideal would obviously request affiliation with other sites pertaining by that same actress, but related ones. For example, Lucy Lawless was most known for being the star of the show Xena: Warrior Princess. So I'll add my site to any site, directory pertaining to her name and that television show alone. Since that is what will be forever her defining role, promoting my site in that way will be the logical direction. Secondly, take a look at the background of said celebrity. Lucy is from New Zealand, so I've searched for NZ related directories. It also helps that Lucy is one of the most if not famous person to come from New Zealand besides Peter Jackson. Being affiliated with other NZ famous sites is also a good idea, because it shares something in common which means more likely for your page to be visited. At the moment, Lucy's prominent role as D'anna in the popular Sci-Fi re-imagined series Battlestar Galactica. Because the show has much more activity than X:WP ever did (although it does have a big following of its own) the traffic in promoting my site in BSG related sites will possibly gain me more traffic than even the former. It also helps me to affiliate my site with actors similar to Lucy (roles played, genre, etc) as well as actors she's worked with in the past. Visitors are more likely to be interested in visiting my page's link considering the content of mine than a completely unrelated celebrities' page. (For example, someone who is at a Johnny Depp fansite will more likely click on an Orlando Bloom link button than say, a Lindsay Lohan link). As I mentioned earlier, genre/resume related links are also a clever idea [well, to me it is, lol]. For example, since Lucy Lawless has played an action heroine, I might seek fan sites about Charlize Theron, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Garner, Michelle Phieffer, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Lynda Carter -- so on and so forth -- have done so also. Any given visitor will subconsciously see the link be interested in checking your page out. Joining groups of any form (Yahoo, LiveJournal, Blogger, Wordpress etc) that allows you to add a link to their site (blogroll), one that relates to a specific topic is a better good chance of receiving visitors. For example, I've added my link to Sci-Fi related sites/groups. Since the actress my site is dedicated to has been apart of a good amount of Sci-Fi work, has a familiar household name, there are good chances of curiosity (especially if there isn't a million other high quality fan sites like yours that exist to choose from). Top sites links are also kind of cool. Especially if you can get enough votes for you to be ranked higher. The ideal way to catch a visitors attention scrolling through the list is to have an eye catching banner. A link with an unattractive or even worse, no banner at all will be skipped with a slim chance of being noticed. Okay I've done enough blabbering. I hope that helped a little for someone. lol |
