i'm also not very sure about it..but search engine will care more about updated content, traffic and link for each website.

Then, it will ranking the site and the best site will be added to SERP.

read Google Webmaster guideline. most search engine work access your site by your link on other site or submit your link to their database by Add Url form. It is just simple funda. for detail you should read more about algorithm of search engine which is changing frequently.

Search engine was more on how the quality of the site..

proper on page optimization and follows with off page optimization
