96 Military layout

Hello my friends

Today i will show you how to create a military layout

This is the Tutorial Number 96 from our 100 Tutorial Marathon
Soon this marathon will end, and i will start another one. I will not tell you how many tutorials i will create in my future marathon

This is what we gone do today

Open a new document in photoshop
Size 760 x 770
Background color: 3b3b3b

Then with Rounded Rectangle Tool ( set the radius to 10 pixels ) create 2 different shape like in the next image

Now we will create a new pattern
Open a new document 8 x 8 pixels with a transparent background

Zoom the document to 1600 % and with Pencil tool ( brush size = 1 pixel ) make the following drawing

I will include the PSD file with the pattern for you in the attachment area so you can download it
After you make the pixel art drawing go to Edit > define pattern
Choose a name for you pattern and click OK

Now you can close your 8 by 8 pixel document
And we will continue to work on our layout

Select the small shape layer ( with the light gray color ) and add the following layer styles

Now use the pattern from above

This is my result

Now select the big shape and add the following layer styles

This is my result

Now it is time to add some images. I will add a gun and some bullets

Then i will add some text buttons on the top of the layout

Select Custom Shape Tool. choose the following shape

Then add this shape on your layout. you can add also some text

Now add another images on the header. i will add another gun
You can add any image you have. right now this is what i have
I will add also some text on the header

Now select Line Tool ( set the weight to 1 pixel , and star creating some lines )
Then you can add alone some text, or what image you need

If you want to add extra details on this layout then you might be interested in Talk-Mania Big-Pack

I hope you like this layout. I am waiting some suggestions from you , and maybe your suggestion will become a tutorial. Thanks

Maybe you should not make 100 low quality tutorials but make 5 good ones!

:| 4/10

Admin... this is not your best effort. I have seen better from you. Im noting trying to make you feel bad but is not the kind of work i would expect from you. The Layout is 'Budget' looking and the Styles of the Content is s**t sorry about this but i ham just expressing how i feel about this. So i give it a 4/10.

People don't think im being mean here im just expressing myself how i feel about this layout. You may like it, but i don't please don't judge me and think im an arrogant prick because im not.

I Would like to see some Food layouts for Restaurants and some Web Design layouts and more styles. The VIP Styles you make admin are great! I love them i use them in all my work. I recommend you become a VIP so you can Access the grate; Layouts, Styles, Logos, Buttons and more!!!
PS. Freelancer_Dan This tutorial is not good but most of the other ones are good!

When I say shit, I mean his layouts have barely any usability what so ever. It seems like he has 6 months experience with photoshop and none with actual web design. About 50% of them are actually ugly.

Here's some of my work -

I hope you understand that 1 quality tutorial is better than 100 bad tutorials.

The treading on the top, and the grove below the menu at the top and above the copyright at the bottom are very nice ideas. As for the "usability" that freelancer was complaining about, the tutorial is hard to use in a website because of the gradient background (I'm guessing that's what he's saying), but there are ways around that.

As for his sites, the first one is a forum skin. Let's be honest, how much thought goes into what a forum looks like? All forums pretty much have the same layout and a tri-color scheme, but I would say his is definitely not as good as vBulletin. His second site about the Business is not too bad, but Admin already made a tutorial that resembles this layout, I actually like Admin's better. Finally, the blog site is not too bad, it's a different layout, but I will say that none of your Title images look good at all. None of them say "come back and view me again later", they're just sort of there filling space, looking b-rate.

I just have to reiterate that the Blog and Forum site have poor color choices. They just look bland. He should have at least chosen the blue color from the business site. Good luck freelancer, you're not quite there yet.

I can see how you may dislike the less vibrant colours on the layouts you pointed out.

Anyway, my point is: it's obvious that the owner of this forum is creating hundreds of low quality tutorials just to generate traffic and make money from the abundance of advertisements he displays.

In my opinion, he may make money in the short term but I doubt he will in the long term. If you write low quality tutorials you'll get high traffic for a couple of days then barely any afterwards - all of the traffic is from tutorials databases. If you write quality tutorials you will get inward links from websites other than tutorials databases which means long term traffic.

edit: Please tell me the link to the tutorial similar to my layout, I'm interested to see what he came up with.

I hope you don't think that this one is better than mine >< - Create simple Business templates

One of the usability problems is that the titles would have to be displayed as images because of the bad font choices, this would lead to bad SEO.

I hear you yelling alt tags but even so, how are you going to use h1 around an alt tag?
