130 Medieval Layout

Hello

Today i am going to make Tutorial Number 130 from 500 Tutorial Marathon
I will show you how to create a Medieval Layout

Let's start with a new document
Size 760x770 pixels
background color ( Black )

Download the following texture, and open it in Photoshop

Then drag this texture on your layout with move tool.

Now go to Filter > Render > Lightning Effects and use the following settings

This is my result

Now you need to download the following png file. It is a chain and we will create a texture

Then go to Edit > Define Pattern
Chose a name for this chain pattern and press OK

You can close the chain image. Now create a new layer ( press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+N )

Select rectangular Marquee tool and make a selection like mine

Grab Paint Bucket Tool and be sure you have the pattern with chain selected

Now click one time inside your selection, Then press CTRL+D to deselect
This is my result

You can modify the size of this chain:

With this layer selected please go to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen More
My result

Now download the following png file, and open it in photoshop

Then drag this layer on your layout. You can resize this layer a little

Then Please add a shield to this layout, and a old style paper

On both layers you can add the same sharpening technique
Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen More

Select Rounded rectangle tool, and create a shape like mine

Select The chain layer, then with erase tool you can delete some parts of your chain

Then create a small circle and place it like me. ( be sure you place this circle under the chain layer in your layer palette)

Duplicate the chain layer, and place it on the right side. the same you can make also with the foliage layer

Then download the following image

After you open the png file in photoshop, you need to drag it to the layout
You can resize it if you want.

Duplicate this layer and place it like me

Then with erase tool delete the top of the image
I will hide the other image so you can see better what i am doing

Then drag this layer under the navigation bar

You can turn the visibility on for the first ax

Select ellipse tool and create a small black circle. place the circle like me

Now you can add more foliage to your layer

Then with Rounded rectangle tool create a few shapes

Then try to bind this shapes with chain. Duplicate the chain layer a few times and place it like me

Now add one more time a few small circles

Now create a new layer on top of all layers ( press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+N )
Go to www.free-photoshop.com and download the Brush #14 - Rust / Grunge Brushes

Load the brush in photoshop, select a grunge brush , then on the layer you have already created make some random drawings with your brush

Select Type Tool, and write some text on your layout. we will create a text logo

You can duplicate the foliage layer and place it where you think it fits well
This is my final result.

I hope you like it

Great work Admin, I love the layout, and the tutorial is easy to follow, as usual. How did you get so good at Photoshop?

This looks really good, but, i'm bussy with the chain right now, but it's too big, you say you can also make it smaller, but how? Maybe a nice thing, you can make it a little bit red, that gives it an amazing look.
